Current variation

This is my Comfrey that I got and put into the ground. They were small, but this plant like aloe is a very difficult plant to kill. Got four of them for the chop and drop mulching. I am already starting to get some mint here and there, and some oregano. So already starting to enjoy the herbs from the garden as I sip my mint tea.

A panned out view of a portion of the layout. I found rain water seems to be better for the plants than city water. The little gravel area is a slow drain to the water table scenario not a lake or pond.
Strawberry, Golden Rod, and Sweet Garlic around the lemon tree. The lemon tree seems to have taken the transplant a little rough, but it fought it's way through it. It is amazing at how resilient mother nature can be.
Strawberry 1 of 4. And yes that is clover, white clover to be exact. I am told it does not grow that high and is a great nitro fixer.
The Rosemary, she is looking rough but I have plans to get her more happy in the future. She is surviving at this point so I am not too concerned until I rearrange some things.
Drainage and barrel view. The mess on the back porch looks bad but it really isn't, it does not impact the peace of sitting out on the hammock yet. :)
Clover spread. I remember white clover from when I was a kid up in Ohio, it was always in the yard and always had a bee on them.
Oregano, Garlic and other attracters in the picture. This set is around the Guild of the Lime tree.
A wider view of the Lime Guild.
The Chrysanthum, and Hydrangia. I had to plant some more garlic and oregano around them as bugs kept getting on them. The rest of the pictures are pretty much various views of the area. So please enjoy.

Saturday Prep

Started the day with some prep for tomorrow. Some top soil, and some mulch. What you don't see in this setup is the 2" pipe I also got. :) Think that was the first run.

Plant is to move both lemon and lime plants, then introduce the under root water system as well. Then start the tree guild. Of course hopefully we can find some other plants, if not we are starting with seeds. :(

I did pick up oregano and some peppermint on round 2. Though they are small.

Some potting mix stuff, 2 plants, a small rake (helps get pine straw off roof), seeds (rosemary, lavender, and I think a mint)., and some starter pots.

Ready for tomorrow, get some earth moving and some planting done. I did run across one other issue, I can't seem to find comfrey so we may have to do another plant. Rhubarb was my next one but will have to find it as well.

Re-arrangement For Guild

Preliminary view on where I currently have the Lemon and Lime Trees. After research I found they can grow up to 15-20' tall/wide. So looking at this I will move it more toward the center.

The other tree. This is going to be the first one we form a guild out of after we move it.

This area where the pine needle mulch is currently sitting is where we plan on moving it. We also plan on adding a pipe  down in the soil to set roots in well. Lay down cardboard and mulch and then start planting in a few weeks.

This will be the start of the guild. Since there is already a low lying area for water we may end up adding a swale to it to feel excess water toward from yard near the contour lines.

First Tree Guild Plan

So we will start with the lemon and lime guilds.

In order to determine what is what we will break down the zones and what is planned for the guild.

Main element: Lemon or Lime, since the trees can grow pretty big and they are planted somewhat close together, and on the side of the house we will need to limit it's actual growth to fit within the area.

Attracters will be lavender and yarrow. Lavender for the scent/medicinal and yarrow for the medicinal

Suppressors will be rhubarb and Strawberries. Rubarb for the mulching and  suppression, and strawberry for the suppression.

repelling plants will be garlic and oregano

accumulators will be comfrey and looks like yarrow and strawberries fit into this category as well

mulchers will be comfrey and ruhbarb

nitrogen fixers will be white clovers, and we will try goumi if we can find it.
